Complete kit for the experienced needleworker to produce a 1/12th scale miniature version in needlepoint of an authentic oriental carpet. The kit contains a pattern chart with information about the origins of the carpet, fully illustrated instructions, 22-holes-to-the-inch bound canvas, Appleton's crewel wool, perle cotton for the fringe and a tapestry needle.

The original carpet on which this miniature version is based comes from south-eastern Iran in the region around the town of Fars and was made by nomads of the Qashqa'i tribe. This late nineteenth century carpet is a fine example of a typical Qashqa'i design. The central blue hexagon and red field corners are completely and unevenly filled with botehs drawn in the style characteristic of the area, as are the Herati ornaments in the centre of the three diamond medallions.
